Shrinking a video show

John,
I think what you are talking about is for variable bit rate video used
by DVDs or SVCD. XATSHOW does VCD - which I believe is a fixed bit
rate, so adjustment to the audio file would theoretically not result in
less disk space.

Maybe someone from XAT could comment?

I just joined this group so I am not sure if someone has mentioned
this or not? A way to decrease the size of a video file so there is
more room is to adjust the quality of the audio file. If you have
access to an audio editing program, you can convert the audio file to
"mono" and that saves a significant amount. I also have adjusted the
sample rate and the bit rate and saved significant amounts of space.
This will decrease the quality of the audio but it is always an option
when you need more space. I am not familiar with the requirements for
VCD but there might be some specific limitations for what audio
formats that a DVD player can recognize?
