scan resolution

What resolution would be best for scanning photos to put in the slide
show? For printing, I use 300 dpi. For Xatshow,I just insert my
digital photos without thinking about resolution, and they turn out
beautifully.
Help, anyone?

Hello Jeanie,

It depend on the resolution you choose for the screensaver and the size of the
photos you are scanning ..

Say you are making 1024x768 shows and have 6 inch prints

then you need at least 1024 / 6 = 170 dpi

Chris.

Thank you Chris.
I forgot to specify that I wanted to know at what resolution to scan
photos (usually 4" x 6") for the purpose of making a video cd to show
on a TV via a dvd player. Does the 170 dpi apply?
Thank you.
