XAT 5.02 Pro slideshow plus CD-DA question
Client requirements: CD with the XAT slideshow AND one long (60m) CD- DA (Redbook) audio track on the one CD. We have a client who has around 60 minutes of audio in addition to the XAT slideshow we are making for him. Making the slideshow is fine, the audio track will be an externally edited 'piece' of the 60 minute audio. What the client wants though is for the CD to play the 60 minute track in a normal CD player in addition to the XAT slideshow playing on a PC or his DVD player (as a VCD). Has anyone done this before? I'm thinking something like CD-Extra format or just a multi-session type of CD but I cant quite get my head around how its going to be done. We write our audio tracks from our DAW using CD Architect - resulting in a finalised CD so we cant add any future data, perhaps we will use something like EZCD or Nero etc which unfortunately arent as nice as CD Architect but will probably do. I'm guessing the audio track will need to 'appear' first to the cd player otherwise we will just get data 'noise' as the player trys to play the XAT slideshow? Maybe its really easy and I'm missing something? Russell |

XAT 5.02 Pro slideshow plus CD-DA question
why not make own music CD to play through the source (eg widescreen TV) which is coordinated with the slide show---a lot simpler; or I have often wondered if you could do the project with music and then overlay the slides.. Clearly the one slide-one song limitation will not work... just my thoughts ;josh Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2004 11:17 AM Russel, perhaps I am being to simplestic (spelling) about this but if your customer wants the entire music (60 min) entact then why can't you just space to the music length and let the program spread out the pictures to fit the music. Or just sync to the music but I confess I have not figured out how to do this yet. XAT 5.02 Pro slideshow plus CD-DA question
i think you have same limitations with DVD---the music takes up too much
space and forever to download--hard to stop a song in midstream also. Still think it easier to simply make music CD which is formatted to slide show, and play it through the TV or wherevever the slide show is being seen.Message----- Sent: Wednesday, March 03, 2004 1:57 PM I believe the limitation for 60 minutes of music with slides is not the soft ware but the media. If you just recorded music, you are limited to 70 some minutes of wave files before you run out of space on a CD-R. 60 minutes of music wouldn't leave much space for pictures. One compromise would be to do the music in mp3 format. Still, the best improvement for Xatshow would be to give us some sort of indication as to how much data we are intending to load onto a disk. I believe the best bet if someone wants a 60 minute slide show with music is to look into DVD programs. Don't know of any product out there that would fill the bill, but sure would be interested in any suggestions. wrote: > Russel, perhaps I am being to simplestic (spelling) about this but if > your customer wants the entire music (60 min) entact then why can't > you just space to the music length and let the program spread out the > pictures to fit the music. XAT 5.02 Pro slideshow plus CD-DA question
Russel, After reading your message again, it looks like you are asking if anyone knows how to launch the Xatshow executable and bypass the start up screen. If you can't do that, I don't know how one could play audio from a separate program and show the slides at the same time. Maybe playing xatshow into a computer and recording it in mpeg format, than laying down the audio file and the mpeg file on the same disk??? wrote: > Client requirements: CD with the XAT slideshow AND one long (60m) CD- > DA (Redbook) audio track on the one CD. > > We have a client who has around 60 minutes of audio in addition to > the XAT slideshow we are making for him. > Making the slideshow is fine, the audio track will be an externally > edited 'piece' of the 60 minute audio. > What the client wants though is for the CD to play the 60 minute > track in a normal CD player in addition to the XAT slideshow playing > on a PC or his DVD player (as a VCD). > Has anyone done this before? > I'm thinking something like CD-Extra format or just a multi-session > type of CD but I cant quite get my head around how its going to be > done. > We write our audio tracks from our DAW using CD Architect - resulting > in a finalised CD so we cant add any future data, perhaps we will use > something like EZCD or Nero etc which unfortunately arent as nice as > CD Architect but will probably do. > I'm guessing the audio track will need to 'appear' first to the cd > player otherwise we will just get data 'noise' as the player trys to > play the XAT slideshow? > Maybe its really easy and I'm missing something? > > Russell |
