I try to keep the bit rate at 128 or higher. I use music match to convert bitrate. I think when I downloaded cdex I had to download a codex encoder. I can't remember for sure. I haven't had too many problems with xatshow. I have used d/l songs and songs I converted from cd's. I only use mp3's because wav's take up too much space. robin |

Thanks Robin. I downloaded CDex and tried several variations of codex, bitrate, stereo vs "jstereo", etc. but haven't found the right one yet. Xatshow either says its not a recognized format or reports the wrong duration (ranging from a third of the actual # of minutes, to over 35,000 minutes!). What codex and other settings--bitrate, MP1/2/2.5, etc., do you have luck with? > I have used CDex without a problem. > http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ > > Hope it works for you. > > robin > |

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try! It's a bit of a trip around the barn but worth it to save the space, .mp3 format versus .wav. > with CDEX, do a convert to another format and then convert that file to mp3 > > robin <robin.l.garrison@ > wrote:I try to keep the bit rate at 128 or higher. Finally got the right combo of codex and program settings. Your tip helped. Also, I had a later version of the lame_enc.dll codex from other experiments so I substituted it (V1.32, engine 3.93 MMX). When I convert a WAV file to MPEG I, 128 kbps min. bitrate, auto output sample rate, I get output Xatshow likes. Happy camper again. I have d/l trials of other slideshow programs, but always come back to xatshow. I'm very happy with this program. robin |
